Sukkur, Sindh:At least nine people including women and children died when the roof of godown caved in Khajur Mandi area here on Wednesday. However, dozens other were trapped under the rubble.
Rescue sources said that some 60 daily wage workers were working in a Chuhra (dried dates) making facility, when its makeshift hearth exploded and the roof of the compound fell over the laborers.
So far 10 dead bodies and 13 injured were recovered from the rubble, while rescue work was in progress to recover more people. Army and rangers also reached there and a large number of citizens also rushed there to volunteer the rescue activities.
Police have lodged a case against the owner of the godown and began further probe.
