NAUNDERO:The dispute between the beef butchers, traders and veterinary doctor of Naundero has not yet been resolved despite passage of 18 days due to which the citizens have been deprived of meat and forced to procure chicken, vegetables or costly mutton.
The butchers, including Tufail Kasai, Dilshad Mirani, Mushtaque Supro, Nadim Supro and Ahmed Ali Khokhar, took out a rally here on Monday against the highhandedness of veterinary doctor Gul Bahar Narejo. The rally, after marching through various roads, reached local press club where they held a protest demonstration.
They were joined by the butchers of Larkana district. The protesters also went to Deputy Commissioner’s office where they staged a sit-in. After sometime, Additional Deputy Commissioner called them, heard their grievances and asked them to come tomorrow (Tuesday) at 12 noon when the relevant veterinary doctor will also be called.
He further told them that if the animal husbandry doctor is found guilty, after hearing talks of both sides, then he will be transferred. Talks were also held previously at Bhutto House when PPP city Naundero leaders called both parties in which Narejo was found involved in misdeeds, guilty of misuse of official powers and was instructed by them not to repeat such practices in future but even then, he deviated from that decision because of his political influence, the butchers told newsmen on Monday.
Assistant Commissioner Ratodero Qazi Sardar was also present on the occasion, they added. They said that he was posted there since past 10 years which too was against the current rules. They claimed that they were slaughtering and selling meat since past 50 years but there was no complaint against the because they used healthy animals.
They alleged that veterinary doctor was forcing them to sell beef to his relatives at Rs 250 per kg whereas market rate was Rs 350 per kg. They further alleged that he was also demanding money before clearing an animal and arrives late in the morning due to which animals are slaughtered very late. They further alleged that now veterinary doctor had brought his own henchmen butchers who were selling beef openly but they were being issued threats by him of dire consequences.
They said: “We are all very old citizens of Naundero but it is irony and heart-breaking that nobody has so far taken notice of the issue as if citizens of Naundero have become orphans after the assassination Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.” They appealed to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to intervene and resolve the issue forthwith and get him transferred out of Larkana district.
