District: (National Media Conclave lauds role of Radio Pakistan in highlighting Kashmir issue)

ISLAMABAD:Participants of national media conclave held in Bahawalpur on Thursday appreciated the role of Radio Pakistan in highlighting Kashmir issue at international level.

According to a Radio report, the media conclave titled “Kashmir Issue-Mode of Communication, Social Media and Youth” was arranged by Islamia University as part of Bahawalpur Literary and Cultural Festival.

The Media Conclave, was attended by renowned journalist Wajahat Masood, Director News and Current Affairs, Radio Pakistan Abdul Hadi Mayar, columnist, Naeem Masood, Scholar Shirin Gul, Historian Prof Dr Aftab Gillani moderated by Radio Pakistan Bahawalpur’s Deputy Controller News, Sajjad Parvez.

Speaking in the clave, prominent journalist Wajahat Masood urged the youth to make clear difference between and fake news and real news disseminated by different modes of social media and judged the real one by making their own independent and unbiased opinion.

He urged the youth to play their effective role for the promotion of culture of peace and tolerance in the society. Renowned Columnist, Naeem Masood has asked the youth to seek latest knowledge so that they can meet the challenges of modern age.

Senior Scholar, Shirin Gul while highlighting the importance of citizen journalism said that it can be used to highlight the different social, cultural, and political issues in effective way through social media.

Director News and Current Affairs, Radio Pakistan briefed the participants about the role of Radio Pakistan in promoting Kashmir cause, particularly in the wake of abrogation of the Special Status of occupied Kashmir by Indian Government.

He said Radio Pakistan has become as the only source of information for the people of Occupied Kashmir as India has blocked all media channels and other source of information in Kashmir Valley, Laddakh and Jammu.

Historian Prof Dr Aftab Ahmed Gillani highlighted the different aspects of Kashmir Issue and importance of annexation of Former Bahawalpur State in Pakistan at the time of independence.

Later, Vice Chancellor, Islamia University, Prof Dr Ather Mahboob thanked the participants and also thought the light on the importance of holding such type of literary and cultural festival for the character building of students at the university level.

He also distributed shields among the participants and moderator of the Media Conclave. The Media Conclave was attended by large number of students, faculty members and notables of Bahawalpur City.
