Doctors announce two-day protest

QUETTA:Doctors associations have demanded enforcing a law similar to the law enforced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so that protection may be provided to doctors of Balochistan. In this regard, PMA, YDA, YCA, BMTA, and BDF here Thursday announced to observe protest on Friday and Saturday during which OPDs and Operation Theatres in government-run and private hospitals will remain closed while Emergency and Labour Rooms will remain opened. These views were expressed by Doctor Fareed Sumalani, Chairman, Doctors’ Action Committee in a press conference held at Press Club Quetta.

He said that attacks on doctors have become a routine matter, creating the sense of insecurity amongst the doctors. He said that although it is the responsibility of government to provide facilities in its hospitals, but doctors are being beaten owing to non-availability of facilities. He said that previous week doctors were attacked at Trauma Centre of Sandeman Provincial Hospital, Burn Centre, BMC Complex, amd Sheikh Zaid Hospital, adding that a senior doctor was attacked in his private clinic and he is still admitted in hospital.
