LARKANA:Doctors continued their boycott to government duties on Tuesday for the second consecutive day at all OPDs of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) due to which hundreds of poor patients who arrived here to get specialized medical treatment and diagnostic facilities from far flung areas of more than 12 districts suffered very badly. In this way, 1500-bed capacity hospital remained paralyzed.
The doctors under the banner of Young Doctors Association (YDA) held protest demonstration in the hospital for acceptance of their demands for which it is reliably learnt that Health Secretary has sent a summary to the Sindh Chief Minister through Health Minister which is pending approval. PMA Sindh leader Dr. Saeed Memon, Dr. Irshad Abro, Dr. Suhail Sarki and others said that their demands included increase in monthly pay and allowances to bring them at par with Punjab and KPK.
On the other hand patients also held a protest in the CMCH against the doctors strike saying that they were coming from remote areas to save their lives but when they reached here after travelling so long in this sizzling cold, they found OPD locked and doctors protesting. They appealed to the government to take notice of the issue and resolve it quickly so that poverty-stricken masses do not suffer.
CMCH Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ali Gohar Dahri, told newsmen that it was the responsibility of Sindh government to come forward and accept just demands of the agitating doctors in the province. He said only Sindh government could end those rallies and protests of the YDA across Sindh.
He said not only poor patients but their attendants were also facing hardships when no doctor examined them. He said only emergency department was functioning and emergency operations were also being carried out but all other works had come to a standstill.
