Driver killed, cleaner injured as tanker with 48,000 liters of oil catches fire

UBAURO: A driver was burnt to death and a cleaner injured as oil tanker overturned and caught fire on Sukkur-Multan section of Motorway near Ubauro.

A fast-moving tanker, carrying 48,000 liters of oil, was on its way to Lahore from Karachi when it went out of driver’s control, overturned and caught fire in Machka area near Ubauro.

As a result, its driver Ahmed Ali was burnt to death on the spot while cleaner Mohammad Asghar suffered severe injuries. The body and injured were shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities and injuries, respectively.

The tanker was burnt to ashes amid heavy fire. The rescue teams, including police and traffic staff, reached the scene and extinguished the fire two hours after the incident. Some nearby factories also assisted in rescue operation. The traffic flow was also affected on the Motorway, however, police streamlined it after hectic efforts.
