FBR: (Pakistan Customs expedites clearance of baggage and cargo at Torkham border)

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Customs has deputed additional staff at Torkham border to facilitate trade with Afghanistan and expedite clearance of baggage and cargo.

This was informed at a meeting in Islamabad with Advisor to Prime Minister on Establishment Shehzad Arbab in the chair.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Syed Shabbar Zaidi said exports and transit to Afghanistan bear much promise for expansion of customs operations at Torkham border.

He said the customs department has put its teams in place to brace upto this situation. He informed that around 12 thousand passengers traverse across this border station daily and their facilitation and baggage clearance is being addressed by customs.

Fifty four customs personnel have been withdrawn from other formations and deployed at Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement Peshawar for Torkham.
