KARACHI:A fire broke out at a garment factory in New Karachi area of the city on Sunday.
According to a fire brigade official, the fire broke out on the third floor of the three-storey building located New Karachi near Saba Cinema, at around 6am. He said initially ten vehicles of fire brigade were summoned to extinguish the fire but three more were called later after observing the intensity of the blaze.
Official further said that the fire-fighters had to break a wall of factory to control the flames, adding that fire-fighters have stopped the fire from spreading any further and reduced its intensity. He estimate it will take another hour and a half to extinguish it completely. Fire brigade officer, Imtiaz Afzal also said that the factory didn’t have any fire safety measures. No casualties and human injuries were reported in the incident.
Sources said that the fire might have erupted due to a short circuit. However, the fire official said the exact cause of fire and estimation of loss was not known immediately.
