KARACHI:Advisor to chief minister Sindh for Information, Law and Anticorruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab, reacting to prime minister Imran Khan’s statement, has said that he (Imran Khan) was trying to conceal his failure by blaming that FBR failed to meet its revenue targets owing to 18th Amendment.

In a statement on Tuesday, the provincial advisor said that reason given by the prime minister for failure of tax collection was illogical and ridiculous, adding that it exposed the lack of knowledge of the prime minister.

He said that 18th Amendment was a landmark achievement for provincial autonomy which ended long standing deprivation amongst the smaller provinces.

“Pakistan Peoples Party will stand against any attempt to roll back 18th Amendment.” He said that it was responsibility of the federal government to achieve revenue targets not provinces and added that Sindh government had met its revenue targets with six percent growth in current financial year.

The advisor said that Sindh is at the forefront in revenue generation, while federal government as well other three provincial governments, were behind. He said that Sindh had collected Rs 127 billion in current financial year.

He said that the federal government had completely failed and showed its inability in tax recovery. Keeping the performance of Sindh government on revenue collection, the advisor demanded of the federal government to hand over power of collecting sales tax on goods to Sindh.
