Karachi:Jinnah Sindh Medical University has provided financial support to its 40 female students from Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) as they have stopped receiving money from their homes in the current situation in IOK. The Indian Occupied Kashmir is in a state of complete communication blockade for the past eleven days affecting financial transactions between the students and their families.
The Vice Chancellor JSMU Professor S.M. Tariq Rafi has assured the students of the University’s full support during these testing times and advised them to concentrate on their studies while the University takes care of their local worries. Kashmiri students have sent messages of gratitude to the Vice Chancellor and expressed hope for the peaceful and early settlement of the Kashmir issue.
Jinnah Sindh Medical University is a public-sector university established in 2012 when the city’s premier institution Sindh Medical College was given the status of a University. Since then, the University has opened seven more institutes and affiliated 10 colleges. The total enrolment of medical and dental students exceeds 7,000, making it the largest medical university in Sindh. Its components are Sindh Medical College (SMC), APPNA-Institute of Public Health (AIPH), Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS), Sindh Institute of Oral Health Sciences (SIOHS), Institute of Health and Business Management and Social Sciences (IOHBMSS), Institute of Nursing, Institute of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Institute of Family Medicine and Institute of Medical Education.
