Karachi has one ambulance for 340,000 people: AJK president told

KARACHI: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan visited Aman Foundation here on Monday to see the efforts made by the development sector in the education and health of the society. The AJ&K president visited the Aman Tech building where he interacted with the students. He was also given a tour of the flagship life-saving Aman Ambulance and its operations.

Speaking on the occasion, Khan expressed the hope that Aman Foundation’s vocational training program at Aman Tech would empower the youth of Pakistan. The AJK president also expressed his keenness for Aman Foundation to expand its operations in AJK. To date, Aman Tech has graduated more than 10,200 students with a placement rate of 69%.

Het said: “The purpose of vocational skills development in the youth is for them to have access to an educational cycle that includes practical training in different trades such as automobile, mechanical or refrigeration along with life skills. The trainees should be allowed the benefit of making mistakes and learning from them so that they could be capable of facing the challenges at work.”

Aman Foundation CEO Malik Ahmad Jalal said: “Aman Foundation’s aim is to create systemic change and exponential social impact by catalysing innovative and scalable solutions to health and education, transforming lives and empowering the people of Pakistan.”

Jalal also showed concern over the shortage of ambulances in Karachi. “Karachi needs more live-saving ambulances that can treat patients while taking them to the hospital. As of now there is only one ambulance for every 340,000 people in Karachi against standard of one for every 100,000 people,” he added
