KARACHI: The much awaited opening ceremony of Regional Blood Transfusion Center (RBTC) Sukkur would be held on Wednesday (today) at Sukkur.
The Regional Blood Transfusion Center, Sukkur, was constructed with financial and technical support German Government about one and half year ago. The centre is equipped with blood processing, screening, testing, component preparation and storage facilities.
Chairman, Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be chief guest of the opening ceremony while Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah, Health Minister Dr Sikander Mahendra, Secretary Health Dr Fazalullah Pechuho, Sectary Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA), Dr Zahid Ansari and others would attend the inaugural ceremony.
Sectary Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA), Dr Zahid Ansari, while talking to PPI, said the blood bank would be run under public private partnership. He informed that RBTC Sukkur would be linked to the seven hospital-based blood banks (HBBBs).
He said there was storage capacity of 50,000 blood bags while three other regional blood transfusion centers would be made operational in a month under public private partnership.
