LHC allows Mian Nawaz Sharif to go abroad for 4 weeks

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has allowed Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister of Pakistan and founder of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to go abroad for his medical treatment for four weeks. His stay abroad is extendable if his condition requires so.

Rejecting the stance of PTI government regarding indemnity bonds, the LHC on Saturday ordered the federal government to remove his name from the Exit Control List (ECL) without any conditions.

A two-judge bench, comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem, started hearing the petition of Mian Shehbaz Sharif at 11am and after some breaks annoyed the verdict in evening.

During the hearing, Justice Najafi remarked that in his opinion, it was not fair for the government to place conditions after the Islamabad High Court had granted bail to Nawaz Sharif. If Nawaz’s health improves, the federal government’s board can examine him, the bench said.

Earlier, the bench asked PML-N President Shehbaz, who was in court for the hearing, if he was willing to guarantee that Nawaz will return? To this, Shehbaz said: “God will bring him back.”
