MPA Sidra meets US Senator Comstock

Karachi:MPA Sidra Imran met US Senator Barbara Comstock, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, Congresswoman Vicky Harthrez and Congresswoman Susan Brooks at Capitol Hills and discussed a wide range of bilateral and regional matters

PTI legislator is currently in Washington, USA on an invitation from the U.S. Department of State to attend leadership program.

During the meeting she raised her concern over Kashmir where India is committing human rights violations and atrocities by imposing crippling curfew, shutting down all communications and arresting political activists.

She urged for the support of Indian Occupied Kashmiris to who are under severe oppression from Indian forces, specially women and children as the partial shutdown of the disputed region has entered its 7th week.

She termed it a critical global issue which requires immediate attention. PTI MPA informed that by stripping Indian-administered Kashmir of its special status, India has blocked the region’s right to frame its own laws and allowed non-residents to buy property there. The move that has angered the already oppressed residents of the region and is strongly condemned by Pakistan.

A woman MPA from Sindh Ms. Sidra Imran also discussed trade relations between Pakistan and US, especially in IT sector. She stated that Pakistan has huge potential and strength in innovation and technology with many emerging inspirational and talented women entrepreneurs and that Pakistan and US needs to start a new era of women partnerships to strengthen gender equality.
