MS and MPhil degrees awarded to 97 scholars

KHAIRPUR:The 62nd meeting of Advance Studies and Research Board (ASRB) was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur on Tuesday, which was presided over by Prof Dr Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor SALU.

Addressing the meeting, Parveen said that research has significant impact on the society and is a viable instrument for socio-economic change and development. “We are committed to promote quality research culture at the campus. At this juncture, approximately 4000 research scholars have been registered in the MS, MPhil and PhD Coursework by the Directorate of Post Graduate Studies.

She said Directorate of Post Graduate Studies had been made assertive and streamlined in line with Higher Education Commission’s guidelines. The Board recommended award of PhD degree to three scholars – Mohammad Hanif Laghari, Mohammad Uris Siyal and Hidayatullah Shaikh in the fields of Archaeology, Bio-Chemistry and Computer Science.

It also awarded MS and MPhil degrees to 97 scholars . The Board also recommended various research proposals submitted by the 201 research scholars and recommended by the Scrutiny Committee for their registration in M.S, M. Phil and PhD programs. It also llowed extension in research period of 75 MS, MPhil and PhD scholars, while 175 scholars were allowed for re-registration in their research work.

The participants of the meeting lauded the initiatives and efforts of Dr. Parveen Shah for the enhancement of the research culture and quality education at the main campus and its sub-campuses.
