NICL corruption case: SHC angers at NAB officers for slow progress in probe

KARACHI:Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday expressed displeasure towards the officials of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) when they failed to satisfy the court regarding an inquiry in corruption case of National Insurance Company Limited (NICL).

A SHC bench, headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh, heard a NAB’s inquiry case against accused Saleem Lalani and Syed Harif Rahi and asked the NAB investigation officer that where investigation has reached and what is progress of the case?

Investigation officer told the bench that investigation was in progress and they will inform the court soon regarding the development.

The bench expressed annoyance at the investigation officers and summoned the Director NAB, who also failed to satisfy the court.

The bench remarked that it should now summon the director general of NAB.

Investigation officer stated that investigation was continued and they would produce progress report before the court within 6 weeks.

The court directed investigation officer to submit progress of the investigation on 6th November.
