NICVD’s 9th Satellite Centre to be made operational at Lyari Hospital soon

KARACHI:National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in collaboration with Government Sindh has decided to upgrade Chest Pain Unit into full-fledged Satellite Centre to provide comprehensive state-of-the-art cardiac care services to the people of Lyari and its adjoining areas at their doorstep.

Chief Operating Officer, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Azra Maqsood, while talking to PPI, said the 9th NICVD Satellite Centre would be made operational in collaboration with Sindh Government at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Cardiology at Lyari General Hospital in a month.

She informed that new Cath Lab and other equipment are being installed to facilitate patients. “Modern and well-equipped Emergency, CCU and Consulting Clinics will provide quality treatment, advanced diagnosis, 24×7 cardiac emergency facilities, adult cardiology, echocardiography services, angioplasty and angiographies 100% free of cost, by trained cardiologists, paramedical staff and technicians,” she added.

Azra Maqsood said this Satellite Centre is another milestone to serve the population of Sindh, with a vision to benefit patients with early and easy access to quality heart healthcare facilities.

NICVD is committed to provide cardiovascular services to the population of Sindh province at their doorstep. She informed that all cardiovascular surgeries excluding heart bypass surgery would be performed at Centre. Interventional cardiology, Out-Patient Services and In-Patient Services will also available once the center is made functional.

Currently, eight satellite centres are operating across the Sindh province in cities including Sukkur, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Sehwan, Khairpur, Mithi, Larkana and Tando Muhammad Khan.
