ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the religious segments to follow a broadminded approach for the reformation of society to achieve the desired objectives.
He was talking to prominent scholar, Dr. Syed Salman Nadvi, who called on him along-with a delegation here on Tuesday.
The President said Ijtihad is necessary for effective implementation of reforms in society and Islamic teachings.
He underlined that according to the true spirit of Islam, it is necessary to seek guidance only from Quran and Sunnah for the reformation of society by rising above the level of different schools of thought.
He said it is responsibility of the religious scholars to produce such intellectuals who can perform Ijtihad in order to meet the requirement of modern era.
He said that Dr. Syed Salman Nadvi and his family have rendered commendable services for Islamic preaching and Pakistan Movement for which they are hugely respected in the country.
