Retired employees demand group insurance, benevolent fund

LARKANA: The retired Sindh government servants under the banner of All Sindh Retired Government Servants Welfare Association held a large protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh here on Tuesday for payment of group insurance, benevolent fund, 20% increase in pension and fulfillment of other just demands.

Their leaders Nazir Jatoi, Muhammad Mithal Junejo, Noor Jatoi, Ali Gul Kalhoro, Rahim Bux Kumbhar and other retired Sindh Government servants complained before media persons that retired employees of other provinces have already been disbursed group insurance amount and benevolent fund payment but aged employees of Sindh province have been discriminated by the rulers here despite apex court orders. They said that we are not begging for credit but we are demanding our own legitimate payment which was deducted from our monthly salaries.

They said Sindh High Court, Karachi, had ordered the provincial government in November 2021 to disburse group insurance amount to retired employees within one month but the Sindh government is constantly avoiding and playing dilly delaying tactics which amounts to committing contempt of court.

They said it is great injustice with the employees who served various government departments for their life but they are being illegally denied their justified legal amount. They demanded immediate payment of group insurance, benevolent fund, inflation allowance and 20% increase in monthly pension in the next budget.
