SAPM: (Govt will soon launch program for economic empowerment of women: Dr Firdous)

ISLAMABAD:Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government will soon launch a program for the economic empowerment of the women under the umbrella of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.

Addressing a news conference here on Thursday along with Chairman Bait-ul-Mal Aon Abbas, she said this program will help the women stand on their own feet and immensely contribute to the country’s economy.

She said our women which constitute fifty percent of the total population are have the abilities and capabilities and we will provide them the opportunities to excel in different fields. She said this women program will also promote Pakistan’s true image in the outside world.

Giving details of the program, the Chairman Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal said under this initiative women empowerment centers will be established across the country especially in the far flung and neglected areas including tribal districts, Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan.

He said three hundred and fifty centers will be established in the next four years. In the first year, we will train twenty eight thousand women while this figure will be increased to two hundred thousand.

Aon Abbas said women will be equipped with different modern skills including horticulture and gemstone and its cutting. He said those getting training will also be given monthly stipend of ten thousand rupees.

On completion of training, the women will be given soft loans of twenty thousand rupees to one hundred thousand rupees. He said an orphanage for girls and an old people home will also be established in the federal capital.

He said a comprehensive policy for women empowerment has been prepared and this segment of the society will be trained throughout the country in Women Empowerment Centers.

Aon Abbas said that Pakistan Bat-ul-Mal will establish orphan center for 200 girls in Islamabad in next month. He said 500 senior citizens will be trained at old age homes and they will further work in orphan centers. He said all programs for poverty alleviation will be run under the Ehsaas Program.
