Security guard robs private bank: police sources

KARACHI:A security guard and his two accomplices broke 50 lockers of a private bank in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the metropolis in the wee hours of Monday.

According to police sources, a security guard Kashif Raza and his two accomplices broke 50 lockers of the private bank overnight with the help of a gas cutter and fled after looting cash and jewelry. The robbers also took the bank’s CCTV cameras.

According to police, that the accused was wanted to police in a number of cases, including that of theft and snatching.

Police sources said guard Kashif has already spent served four years term in jail for robbing a bank in North Nazimabad. The security guard company failed to check his criminal record prior to recruiting him.

The bank staff is still unable to estimate how much cash and jewelry had been robbed from the bank. However, police have started an investigation.

On hearing the news, the locker owners arrived at the bank and began protesting. They also complained that the bank staff is not cooperating with them. However, the police assured the protesters that the robbers would be arrested soon after which the locker owners called off their protest.
