SHC acquits man in illicit weapon case

By PPI News Agency Mar9,2018

Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday acquitted an accused who was earlier awarded four-year term on the charges of possessing a illicit weapon.

The trial court had jailed Zubair for four years after having convinced with the prosecution’s claim that the suspect was involved in possessing weapon without license in 2016.

The convict through his counsel challenged the punishment awarded by the trial court and submitted that the prosecution had failed to submit any concrete evidence against him.

The defence counsel argued that the trial court did not follow due procedure while convicting Zubair. The court was requested to set aside the judgment of the trial court and to order the release of the convict.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, the SHC bench set aside the punishment and ruled that the convict should be released if not arrested in any other case
