SHC turns down plea against age limit for SSPC exams

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday turned down a petition assailing the age criteria set for appearing in the test of Sindh Service Public Commission (SSPC), ruling that the court cannot interfere into the government’s policymaking.

The SHC bench pronounced its verdict reserved earlier on the plea filed against the criteria bounding that a candidate should be under 28 at the time of applying for desired slot. The court was requested to set 32 years as age limit for any person who wanted to appear in the SSPC examination.

After listening arguments from both sides, the petitioner and the provincial government the court had reserved its verdict which was pronounced on Friday.

Through its order, the SHC bench dismissed the petition and observed that Sindh government was the competent authority to make policies, adding that the court cannot interfere in that.
