SMIU students visit Mohenjo Daro, Sukkur and other places

KARACHI:A delegation of Sindh Madressatul Islam University’s (SMIU)students visited ancient site of Sindh, Mohenjo Daro on their third day tour under “Exploring Sindh Educational Trip”.

At the site of this great Indus Valley Civilization, they were briefed by a local guide about its various sections excavated so for and about the process of its excavation and preservation.

The male and female students of SMIU, who were mostly belonging to Karachi city, were visiting Mohenjo Daro first time. This is why they keenly went round the college, great bath, wells, walls, rooms, stupa, and other areas of it. They were astonished to see covered drainage of the period of 2500 BCE.

At the museum of Mohenjo Daro, they witnessed things found from the ancient place including pottery, jewelry, statue of dancing girl, king priest and other things. It was an amazing revelation for them that there was no weapon found from Mohenjo Daro. Hence, it was seemed that the people of that period were peaceful. The students also saw Indus River, which was flowing near to it.

During this trip, SMIU students also visited shrine of mystic poet Sachal Sarmast in Daraza. On the same day, they visited Lansdowne Bridge of Sukkur, Sadh Belo, Satiyun Jo Asthan, IBA Sukkur and other important places of Sukkur City. The also paid visit to Ghari Khuda Buskh and went to the last resting place of former prime ministers of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

Before it, they had visited Fort of Kot Diji, Bhambhore, Makli, Hyderabad, Sindh Museum, Sindhology of University of Sindh and Bhitshah.
