Karachi: Experienced batsman Tariq Haroon scored a fine half century to help Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) sailed into the last-eight round of 5th Naya Nazimabad Ramadan Cup T20 Cricket Tournament after an emphatic six wickets success over Rehman Foundation on Thursday night.
Chasing a modest 104 runs winning total, SSGC lost three top wickets with 25 runs on the board under dazzling lights of Lawai Stadium.
But evergreen Tariq showed his experience under pressure with a delightful match winning knock. Batting smartly, Tariq clubbed half a dozen boundaries and three sixes in his 59 off 46 as SSGC romped home for the loss of four wickets with four overs to spare. Off-spinner Rana Irfan caused the early damage with two wickets for 13 runs in economical four overs spell.
Earlier, Rehman Foundation, which was making their first appearance in the event, was bundled out for a paltry total of 103 in 19.5 overs. Adil Amin, Mohammad Irfan and Kashif Bhatti took two wickets each for the winners.
