KARACHI: Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (SMBB) Institute of Trauma, Karachi, administration in collaboration with Regional Blood Transfusion Centre (RBTC) Karachi has decided to establish state-of-the-art blood bank in the trauma centre, which will be made operational within three months.
Chief Operating Officer (COO), SMBB Institute of Trauma, Karachi, Dr Sabir Memon, while talking to PPI on Saturday, said the construction work of blood bank had been started with the support of Regional Blood Transfusion Centre Karachi run by Fatimid Foundation. He hoped that state-of-the-art blood bank would be made functional in three months.
He informed that all indoor patients of trauma centre and Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) could get screened blood free of charge once the bank made operational. He further informed that 5,000 blood bags would be available in the blood bank for patients.
