SU teachers banned from using social media against varsity

HYDERABAD:The deans committee of Sindh University Jamshoro has banned its teachers from using social media against the varsity to tarnish its image by posting fake and fabricated news as well as leaking confidential documents through the different tools including Facebook and WhatsApp.

Deans committee warned the faculty members of taking swift action against them if they were found violating the ban imposed in this regard. Chaired by the vice chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat, the meeting of the dean committee decided to take strict action against the faculty members who defame the varsity by posting false news, leveling allegations against one another on social media and issuing confidential documents.

Attended by deans of various faculties, including Dr Abdullah Dayo, Dr Hafiz Abdul Ghani Shaikh, Dr Hakim Ali Kanasero, Dr Akhtar Hussain Mughal, Dr. Zareen Abbasi, Dr. Abdul Sattar Almani, Dr Bashir Rind, Ali Raza Mirani and registrar Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto, the meeting expressed their confidence on the leadership of the vice chancellor and said that they will not let anyone tarnish the image of the university at any cost.

The meeting unanimously decided to take stern action against those faculty members, using Facebook, WhatsApp and other tools of social media to malign the name of the university in their personal bickers and quarrels.

On the occasion, Dr. Burfat said that after the ban imposed on the usage of social media by the teachers against the image of the university, nevertheless, if anyone found involved, his/her case will be referred to the syndicate and other statutory bodies for taking decision against him/her adding that the action will be taken in accordance with the recommendations giving by the bodies.

Congratulating the deans, heads of departments and faculty members for holding semester examination in peaceful environment, he said “the teachers must submit their results within 15 days after the examinations are over”. He said no student will be allowed to appear for the examinations from next semester that will have short of attendance than the stipulated 75 percent. On the occasion, the deans spoke well of the vice chancellor and said that under his able leadership, the university as growing rapidly and it will soon touch the new heights of success.

They vowed to implement the reforms introduced by Dr. Burfat in real spirit so as to bring the varsity at par with other national and international institutions of higher learning. Earlier the vice chancellor Dr. Burfat visited faculty of pharmacy and reviewed and observed the examinations’ process. He at the juncture expressed contentment over smooth running of the papers.

Dr. Burfat said he was elated to see the air-conditioned classrooms at the faculty adding that the students studying on the campus were like his own progeny and he will provide them with all the basic amenities at the university.
