Traffic Police clarifies van fire

KARACHI:Deputy Inspector General of Police Karachi, taking notice of media reports about incident of a school van that had caught fire in the area of Gulberg, directed the area DSP Traffic to launch a probe and verify the facts.

Saeed Arain, PRO to DIG Traffic, said that the area DSP after investigation reported that vehicle No.CN-8977, Suzuki Hi-Roof, green color model 2005 was not being used for transportation of school children.

The vehicle belongs to one Muhammad Ali S/o Muhammad Zameer who runs auto spare parts business and residing at Tahir Villa, Gulberg Karachi. Today, at about 2.15 pm his vehicle caught fire while he tried to turn the ignition on. There was no any passenger at the time of this incident except above named owner of this vehicle who partially burnt his hand while striving to put out the fire. As such traffic police denies the above media reports.
