Two killed, six injured as building collapses in Sukkur

SUKKUR:Two people, including a woman and a child, were killed and six others injured while over 10 people were feared trapped when a three-storey building collapsed in Sukkur on Thursday evening.

In the initial rescue operation, two people were recovered dead and six others, including two women and four children, found injured. The bodies and injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Sukkur for medico-legal formalities and treatment. Three families were living in the building, rescue sources said. There was hue and cry after the incident in the area.

The rescue workers were facing hardships due to darkness as the affected area plunged into darkness after electric wires cut off due to building collapse in the city’s Station Road area.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah taking notice of the incident telephoned the commissioner Sukkur and directed him to carry out the rescue work and provide all medical facilities to the injured.
