Universities should give freeship to special students: CM’s aide

KARACHI:Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar has asked all public and private sector universities and professional colleges to give freeship to special students to encourage them to get higher education to enable them to live a better and independent life.

This he said while presiding over a meeting in his office on Wednesday. Secretary DEPD Khalid Chachar, Additional Secretary Abu Bakar and Deputy Secretary Shahzaib Shaikh also attended the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities would write a letter to all leading universities and professional colleges, functioning in Sindh, to give freeship to special students in their respective institutions.

Qamar said that it was a matter of great pleasure that Karachi University had decided to award freeship to special students and this noble example should be followed by other educational institutions as well because their this practice would definitely encourage special students to get higher education.

He added, “As we know that nature has bestowed upon special persons with great potential, there is a need to provide them better opportunities to make progress and to show their talents

Qamar said that Sindh government was trying to accommodate these special persons in all public and private sectors besides providing them better health, education and vocational training facilities.
