USAID discusses technical training proposal with CS

KARACHI:A four-member delegation of US AID (United State Agency for International Development), led by Director US-AD Sindh and Baluchistan Michel H Hryshchyshyn, called on the Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah on Thursday and discussed the aspects of joint venture to develop technical education in Sindh.

Welcoming the delegates, the Sindh Chief Secretary noted that the need-based training should be imparted to the youth, so that they may avail employment opportunities on completion of training in various industrial filed.

After detailed deliberations, it was decided that USAID, STEVTA (Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority ) and Aman Foundation shall jointly prepare a model project, while working papers thereof will be brought up within a couple of weeks.

However, on approval of the project training institutes will be established in Divisional Headquarters of Sindh.

The Chief Secretary maintained that consultation from IBA-Sukkur may also be availed, as well.

Earlier, Managing Director STEVTA Shafique A Mahesar apprised the meeting that 250 institutions including 100 colleges are functioning in Sindh.

Sr. Members SRB (Sindh Revenue Board), Secretary Universities and Board Riaz uddin Qureshi, Secretary Coordination Dr. Riaz Siddiqui and Chief PPP (Public Private Partnership) Khalid Shaikh were also present.
