West should shun Islamophobia: Altaf Shakoor

Karachi:Pasban Democratic Party’s Chairman Altaf Shakoor has said that on the occasion of commemoration of D-Day the sacrifices rendered by the Muslims and Hindu soldiers of the allied forces were not even mentioned, which shows the biased mentality of the western leaders.

He said the Western nations should not shun Islamophobia and instead create a broadminded atmosphere so that Muslims should not be discriminated.

He reminded that more than 40000 Muslims soldiers had sacrificed their lives in the World War II and ignoring these huge sacrifices on the occasion of the D-Day commemoration is just regrettable.

He said after 75 years of the end of the world war –II a ceremony was held to commemorate the event at Port Smith but the sacrifices of Hindu and Muslims soldiers of the allied forces were not even mentioned, which shows the narrow-mindedness of the West. He said 75 years ago the allied forces had launched the biggest offensive in the history of world on June 6, 1944 at Normandy, France. He said forces of Hitler also used heavy weaponry. He said 44014 soldiers of the allied forces had died and 9000 others had injured in this offensive. He said at least 5400 Muslim soldiers of Arabia, 1700 Muslims soldiers of North Africa and 35000 soldiers of the British Indian army had died in the WW-2. He said however more than 1 million soldiers of British Indian army had fought on different fronts.

Altaf Shakoor said the blood of Muslim and Indian soldiers was also included in the victory of the allied forces and forgetting these sacrifices is highly regrettable. He said the Western leaders should now shun this Islamophobia.
