Punjab Police officials confirmed today that 1,299 members of 555 criminal gangs have been arrested as part of a major province-wide security campaign launched at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. Stolen goods worth over 29 crores and 47 lakh rupees were also recovered during the ongoing operations.
The recovered assets include a significant sum of 20 crore and 40 lakh rupees in cash. Authorities also seized 25 vehicles, 364 motorcycles, 77 tolas of gold, 181 livestock, and 623 mobile phones from the detained individuals.
A large cache of weapons was also seized during the raids. This cache included 117 Kalashnikovs, 211 rifles, 3,494 pistols, 275 guns, and 76 revolvers. In addition, law enforcement agencies also seized 13,950 bullets.
This extensive security campaign against organized crime is ongoing in all areas of Punjab, including the provincial capital. On the direction of IG Punjab Abdul Karim, these operations against criminal elements have been intensified to enhance public safety.
