16 injured in Sibbi hand grenade blast

SIBBI: Sixteen people were injured in a hand grenade blast in Sibbi on Friday.

According to recue sources, unidentified armed men riding a bike threw a hand grenade at Luni Chowk in Sibbi, injuring 16 people. The armed men fled to unknown destination after swift operation.

The injured were rushed to Sibbi Civil Hospital, where condition of four persons was stated to be critical. Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs, Mir Zia Langove has strongly condemned the bomb blast in Sibbi.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Langove said targeting innocent people was an act of cruelty and condemnable. He said that terrorists looked for soft targets to achieve their objective. He said perpetrators of this heinous crime would soon be brought to justice. The minister said anti-state elements were conspiring to vitiate peace of the country.

Expressing heartfelt grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of innocent citizens, Langove prayed, “May Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved families to bear the losses with equanimity”.
