The Capital Police on Tuesday claimed to have taken 17 individuals into custody in a series of targeted operations across the federal capital, confiscating multiple illegal firearms and other weapons, according to a statement from the Islamabad Capital Police.

In one set of actions, police teams from the Ramna, Khanna, Kirpa, and Phulgran stations detained eight suspects allegedly involved in various criminal activities. A search of these individuals resulted in the seizure of six pistols, complete with ammunition, and a dagger. Formal cases have been lodged against the apprehended suspects, and further investigations are currently underway.

Separately, a special campaign targeting proclaimed offenders and absconders led to the apprehension of an additional nine wanted criminals by various police units.

These operations were conducted following specific directives from the Inspector General of Police for Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as part of an ongoing initiative to ensure peace and tranquillity in the city.

The Islamabad Police reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents, stating that elements seeking to disturb public peace would not be tolerated and that citizen protection remains its foremost priority.

Officials have also encouraged the public to contribute to crime prevention by immediately reporting any suspicious persons or activities to their local police station or by using the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline, emphasising that community-police cooperation is vital for eradicating crime from society.
