Young generation in occupied Kashmir facing genocide: AAC

Srinagar, April 03, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Awami Action Committee (AAC), headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, while expressing serious concern over the painful situation in the territory has said that under a well-thought out plan, Indian forces are subjecting Kashmir’s young generation to the worst genocide. The Awami Action Committee in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that occupied Kashmir had been turned into a police state. It termed the killing of 19 people and injuries to over 200 in South Kashmir by the Indian troops as an act of war crime.

The AAC paid rich tributes to all the martyrs and prayed for the speedy recovery of all the injured. It said that the Indian forces’ personnel were selectively killing Kashmir’s young boys at will due to the unbridled powers enjoyed by them under the draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). It said time and venue for the bloodbath is also selected by the forces themselves as they know that no one is going to make them accountable.

The AAC said the killing of innocent civilians can’t be tolerated for long and that Kashmir is a political and human issue which needs to be resolved through tripartite talks involving Pakistan, India and the genuine Kashmiri leadership in line with the relevant UN resolutions. The AAC also strongly condemned the puppet authorities for continuously placing Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention and converting entire South Kashmir into a military garrison.

On the other hand, Deputy Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam addressing a meeting of Muslim Personal Law Board in Srinagar while condemning the Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir urged the international community to intervene for the safety of the lives of Kashmiri people. He warned India of dire consequences if bloodshed in occupied Kashmir was not stopped. Representatives of civil society and board members participated in the meeting. The meeting was held at the instruction of Grand Mufti, Mufti Bashir-ud-Din.

The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference President, Merajuddin Soleh, in a statement said that the Kashmiris were offering sacrifices in the path of freedom struggle. He urged Indian rulers to shun obduracy and act positively to resolve the Kashmir dispute. The Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Employees Movement, Muhammad Shafi Lone, in a statement also condemned the killing of innocent people by the Indian troops.

India has declared war against civilians in IOK: Gilani

Srinagar, April 03, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has said that India has declared a war against unarmed Kashmiri civilians. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, Jammu and Kashmir is a highly militarized zone, and people feel insecure and under continuous threat in presence of Indian army and paramilitary forces’ camps in every nook and corner of the territory.

Condemning the troops for their inhuman barbaric act of making a civilian, Mushtaq Ahmad Thoker, as human shield during cordon and search operations in Shopian, and his subsequent killing, the APHC Chairman said, “This is an inhuman and unjustified act and it vindicates our claim that forces are involved in war crimes and are patronized and encouraged by Indian leadership.”

It is worth mentioning here that Jammu and Kashmir police had confirmed that Mushtaq Ahmad Thoker was picked up by the Indian troops and was brought to Shopian where he was killed during the operation on Sunday. The APHC Chairman appealed to the UN and the world human rights organizations including the Amnesty International to take cognizance of the incident and fulfill their responsibilities in saving precious lives in the occupied territory.

Syed Ali Gilani criticized the Indian authorities, their henchmen in the territory, police, army and paramilitary personnel for the brutal killings in Shopian and said that India was resorting to its terror policies to continue its unauthorized rule. He paid tributes to the Shopian martyrs and said that those who laid their lives for a sacred cause were alive with their Lord and receive sustenance from Him.

He said that the youth were taking up arms to put an end to slavery and this barbarity. “It is not just a passion; however, a growing resentment among youth and it is the outcome of unresolved Kashmir dispute. Unending curbs on political activities and stubborn attitude have created political uncertainty in the territory. The insensitivity and unconcern of authorities in New Delhi is the sole reason for this unabated bloodshed,” he added. Syed Ali Gilani strongly condemned the use of brute and un-proportionate force against peaceful and unarmed civilians and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

March towards Shopian tomorrow

Srinagar, April 03, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a protest march will be conducted towards Shopian, tomorrow, to express solidarity with the victim families of the massacre carried out by the Indian troops on Sunday. Call for the march has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The Hurriyat leaders will address a public rally in Shopian town.

The JRL termed as cruel and inhuman the act of making a local resident Mushtaq Ahmed Thoker human shield by the Indian troops before he was killed on Sunday. One more youth injured in the firing of Indian troops on protesters, yesterday, succumbed to his injuries, today, raising the death toll in the ongoing massacre to 18.

The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement said that India had declared a war against the unarmed Kashmiri civilians. He said that the abduction of martyred Mushtaq Ahmad Thoker by the troops to make him human shield vindicated the Hurriyat claim that Indian forces were involved in war crimes and were patronized and encouraged by Indian leadership.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown continued on the third consecutive day, today, to mourn the massacre of youth in South Kashmir. The shutdown was also observed in far-off areas of Doda, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah and Banihal in the Jammu region. The puppet authorities continued to impose restrictions across the territory to prevent anti-India protests. They continued to suspend internet and train services, while all schools and colleges remained closed in the Kashmir Valley. The Kashmir University postponed all the exams scheduled for today.

Almost all resistance leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, Bilal Siddiqi, Umar Adil Dar, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt and Javaid Ahmed Mir continued to remain under house arrest or in custody. The Indian police raided the residence of APHC leader, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, in Srinagar.

Delegations of Democratic Freedom Party, Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement and Tehreek Mazahamat visited families of martyrs in different areas of South Kashmir and expressed solidarity with them. Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen held anti-India protests in Srinagar.

Kashmiri representatives, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl, in their letters urged the OIC Secretary General, Dr Yousef Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, President of European Parliament, Antonio Tajani and British parliamentarians to condemn the Bloody Sunday massacre, perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

Karachi, April 03, 2018 (PPI-OT): General Body of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry on 3rd April 2018, passed a resolution on Free Trade Agreements by Pakistan and demanded that FPCCI should be taken on board while negotiating bilateral agreements particularly FTA with China. Members of the General Body of FPCCI have seriously taken-up the issues in Pakistan trade and specifically trade deficit of 15billion US dollar while trading with China under FTA.

The meeting also discussed that Pakistan exports is not getting the potential penetration in China while products from China have flooded in Pakistan’s markets. The GB member said that trade benefit seems unilateral and in favour of China. Hence the General Body of FPCCI resolved unanimously that without FPCCI no Free Trade Agreement should be consider or negotiate and FPCCI to be taken on board especially with II-Phase of Pak-China FTA.

YPO Global Pulse Survey: Which Disruptive Technologies Command Attention and Investment of CEOs Globally, Now?

Survey of 10 disruptive technologies highlights those most likely to impact businesses and investments in the next 12 months

DALLAS, April 03, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — YPO, the premier chief executive leadership organization in the world, announced today the results of the March 2018 YPO Global Pulse Survey, revealing that chief executives across the world are focused on core business technologies, such as cloud computing, business intelligence (BI) and cybersecurity, whilst adoption and investment of emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI) and cryptocurrency are likely to be sector-driven.

Disruptive Technologies Attracting CEO Attention and Likely Investment Globally:

  • Cloud computing is a key priority for chief executives globally – more than two-thirds (68%) of chief executives report that cloud computing is likely to impact their business in the next 12 months, and 62% state that they are likely to invest in cloud-based technologies.
  • Business Intelligence (BI) has the attention of CEOs – 65% of chief executives surveyed expect BI to impact their organizations and more than half (56%) are likely to invest in business intelligence in the coming 12 months.
  • Cybersecurity is a disruptive technology that chief executives have prioritized given the scale and severity of recent high-profile consumer data breaches, 53% of chief executives are expecting cybersecurity to impact their business and 47% state that they are likely to invest in cybersecurity technology in the coming year.

“What I’m hearing from YPO global business leaders right now is that digital transformation remains at the very top of their priorities in 2018. Several disruptive technologies are expected to garner widespread attention and investment this year, such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, business intelligence and mobile payment applications,” said Scott Mordell, CEO of YPO. “YPO members are embracing technology to address regulatory requirements, harness business data for improved efficiency and increased financial performance, and to match consumer demand for new and innovative ways to interact with their businesses.”

Despite Expected Disruption, CEOs Less Likely to Invest in These Technologies in the Next Year:

  • Although virtual reality (VR)/Augmented Reality (AR) are widely noted as technologies likely to impact most industries, most CEOs surveyed are not actively investing in those technologies yet. However, within architecture and engineering sectors, 83% of business leaders expect VR to impact their business and 64% plan to invest in it over the next 12 months, as compared to only 23% of all chief executives surveyed willing to invest in these technologies now.
  • Similarly, artificial intelligence (AI) is perceived as likely to impact businesses, but CEOs are less likely to invest in AI this year as cloud computing, business intelligence, cybersecurity and digital/mobile payment applications, which are commanding more immediate attention and likely candidates for investment in the next 12 months.
  • CEOs are least familiar with chatbot technology, followed by blockchain and cryptocurrency among the 10 disruptive technologies surveyed. As a result, they tend to discount the likelihood of disruption to their businesses from these new emerging technologies and show much lower interest in investing in these technologies this year.

Disruptive Technology Investment Driven by Specific Industry Sectors

The levels of familiarity and interest in many disruptive technologies are determined by industry.  For instance, although there has been much media attention and discussion around blockchain and cryptocurrency, most CEOs do not see either of those technologies as particularly likely to impact their businesses, and are not likely to invest in those technologies. However, blockchain has gained the attention and investment of CEOs in the financial services sector.

  • More than half (58%) of chief executives in financial services expect blockchain technology to impact their organization over the next 12 months, and as many as 40% expect to make investments in the technology.
  • The Internet of Things (IoT) is cited as a key technology area by business leaders within the telecom, architecture, engineering and technology sectors. More than three quarters (78%) of chief executives in telecoms expect IoT to impact their business and almost all of them (96%) expect to make investments in IoT over the next 12 months.

“The findings of the YPO Global Pulse reveal that the short-term business impact and investment strategy associated with a particular technology is largely dependent on the specific industry in which you operate,” noted Scott Mordell, CEO of YPO. “It will be fascinating to see how priorities and focus change over the next year as disruptive technologies such as AI and virtual reality become more mainstream.”
