4136 micro small lockdowns in place countrywide to control spread of COVID-19: NCOC

Islamabad, November 09, 2020 (PPI-OT): A meeting of National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) was informed on Monday that 4136 micro small lockdowns are in place across the country to control the spread of Coronavirus.

The forum was informed that Test Trace and Quarantine strategy is being used for disease control and prevention.

The meeting noted that positivity ratio in major cities is increasing rapidly with nationwide positivity rate stands at four point five percent.

The forum was informed that recent health guidelines will remain in force in sixteen major cities till 31 January next year.

The meeting was apprised that 2811 oxygenated beds were included to ramp up hospitals capacity. Over 13000 oxygen cylinders were issued to the provinces and federating units.

The NCOC appreciated efforts of provinces for taking prompt and necessary measures in line with health guidelines for public safety and well-being.

318,881 patients recovered from coronavirus in Pakistan

Islamabad, November 09, 2020 (PPI-OT): 1650 new cases of Coronavirus surfaced in the country over the last twenty-four hours after the tests of 33340. According to latest statistics, nine more people died of virus during the last twenty-four hours. The figure of patients recovered from the virus has reached 318,881. There are now 18,981 active cases in the country.

National economy is now on positive trajectory due to prudent policies of Govt: Shibli

Islamabad, November 09, 2020 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Shibli Faraz says national economy is now on positive trajectory due to prudent policies of the government and economic indicators will further improve in coming days.

Talking to a private news channel, he said Pakistan is moving on the right path and despite COVID-19 challenge, Current Account deficit is surplus.

The Information Minister said the PTI government has not obstructed the political activities of the oppositions, however it would not more tolerate blaming the institutions.

He said that the government believes in a political engagement but there would be no compromise for personal gain.

Sikh community celebrating first anniversary of opening of Kartarpur Corridor today

Islamabad, November 09, 2020 (PPI-OT): Sikh community all around the world is celebrating the first anniversary of the opening of Kartarpur Corridor on Monday.

On November 9 last year, Prime Minister Imran Khan fulfilled the cherished desire of upto 30 million Sikhs around the world by formally opening it in a colourful ceremony.

The opening of corridor was widely recognized as ‘a new symbol of peace’ by the world community which also took place on the eve of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

Darbar Sahib Kartarpur is located in Narowal district which is the last resting place of Baba Guru Nanak sahib who had settled there and preached for about 18 years of his life.

President, PM urge to stand united for socio-economic uplift of country

Islamabad, November 09, 2020 (PPI-OT): The President Dr. Arif Alvi and the Prime Minister Imran Khan in their separate messages on Iqbal Day, have urged the need to stand united, set aside differences and work commitment for the socio-economic uplift of the country.

The President in his message underscored the need of following Allama Iqbal’s teachings on Islam and his philosophy of “Khudi” that believed in the promotion of self-respect and human dignity, to make Pakistan a prosperous nation.

He said that Iqbal was a great benefactor of the Muslims of sub-continent, who envisioned the idea of a separate homeland for them and later his dream was translated into reality.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his message also emphasized on individual and collective responsibility in the building of the nation while exploring thoughts of Allama Iqbal.

He said Allama Iqbal not only dreamt of Pakistan but also reflected upon the issues it would have to face after its creation.

The Prime Minister said Iqbal’s vision is still a guiding force to overcome issues like sectarianism and extremism.

He urged the nation to concentrate their energies on transforming Pakistan under the visions of its forefathers.
