(CITY): HEC forms Transition Committee for Medical and Dental Education

Islamabad:,,, Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan has constituted a Transition Committee with representation of relevant stakeholders for a smooth transition to the regulatory framework governing medical and dental education under the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) Act 2020.

Pursuant to the promulgation of PMC Act 2020, the uniform minimum standards of basic and higher medical education, training and recognition of qualifications in medicine and dentistry will be formulated and implemented. PMC and the HEC will work together and closely coordinate to define the regulatory scope.

The Transition Committee has been constituted to ensure that there will be gradual transition in terms of setting standards, devising mechanisms/policies regarding curriculum, faculty and inspection of medical and dental colleges.

The Committee will ensure that there will be no abrupt change and existing standards shall remain in force till adoption of new standards/policies.

PM: (Industrialists’ suggestions being incorporated in Govt’s decision making process: PM)

ISLAMABAD:,,, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said it is responsibility of the government to provide utmost facilitation to the industrial and business activities as development and prosperity of Pakistan are linked with the progress of the industrial sector.

Talking to Pakistan’s leading industrialists here on Friday, he said industrialists’ suggestions are being incorporated in government’s decision making process, which is producing positive impact.

He directed to resolve problems being faced by the industrialists in exporting their goods. He also sought proposals from the industrialists to bring innovation to the agriculture sector and to start corporate farming to enhance yield of various crops.

The delegation thanked the Prime Minister and said that the government patronage to business activities have started yielding positive results. They said foreign exchange reserves have reached to the highest level, which shows economic stability in Pakistan.

They said government’s economic team is always available to them for any guidance and problem solving. The delegation said that current account deficit has become surplus in Pakistan, which is a good sign for the economy.

The participants of the delegation appreciated Prime Minister for patronizing the construction sector and said that consumption of cement is at the highest level in Pakistan’s history.

They said boom in construction activities and rise in textile exports, despite Coronavirus pandemic, have cast positive impact on country’s economy and provided job opportunities to the people. The delegation, while expressing its complete confidence in government’s policies, offered its services for the improvement of Pakistan’s economy.

 (CITY): Ratodero woman protests against money-lender ASI

LARKANA:,,, A woman named Zubeda Khatoon Jalbani, a resident of Ratodero, held a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh Friday against highhandedness of a money-lender ASI Zahid Jalbani.

She complained before newsmen that she lended Rs150,000 from Zahid and had so far refunded him Rs300,000 after selling a plot, but he was still demanding Rs400,000 more which was highhandedness. She further alleged that yesterday Ratodero police on the instigation of Zahid raided her house in the morning and arrested his son Junaid and in the evening, they again took away her other son Zubair.

The protesting woman said she went to register a complaint at the Ratodero police station, but they refused to register her report and also did not help. She appealed to the higher police officers of Sindh to take notice of the issue and order release of his both sons and take stern action against the cop.

She further said SSP Larkana Masood Bangash had claimed that strict action would be taken against the menace of money-lending, but now his own cop had been caught doing un-Islamic and illegal money business, hence, he should take legal action against him and bring him to justice.

 (CITY): Available resources being mobilized to improve Levies Force: CM

KHUZDAR:,,, Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has said that it is a big achievement to have increased the capability of Balochistan Levies Force.

These views were expressed by him while addressing an Inter-District-Levies-Recruits passing out parade. On the occasion, Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs, Mir Ziaullah Langove, Parliamentary Secretary for Information, Bushra Rind, MPA Mir Naseebullah Marri, Director General, Balochistan Levies Force, Mujeeb Qumbrani and other authorities were also present.

On arrival, a smartly turned out contingent of levies force presented guard of honour to Chief Minister Balochistan. Addressing the passing out parade, Khan said security forces had rendered great sacrifices for maintaining law and order situation in the province. He added, “Balochistan is our province and we will have to play our role for the progress and prosperity of Balochistan”. He said all available resources were being mobilized for the improvement of Balochistan Levies Force.

 (CITY): Three cops fired for changing witness in ATC

LARKANA:,,, The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), Larkana Range, Nasir Aftab Pathan, has dismissed from service three cops who changed their witness (Gawahi) in the Anti-Terrorism Court to benefit the accused.

According to the statement issued by the DIG’s PRO here on Friday, the sacked cops include Sub-Inspector Nabi Bux Jakhrani, Head Constable Atta Muhammad Mashori and Constable Zamir Hussain Bhayo of police station Durrani Mahar of Kashmore district.

Two constables Inayatullah Deho and Ghulam Hyder Bhayo were brutally killed a year ago in the limits of the same police station but these cops changed their witness before the ATC.

 (CITY): Naujawan Ittehad protests against Rice Research Institute’s director

LARKANA:,,, Members of Dokri’s Naujawan Ittehad held a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh Friday against Director, Rice Research Institute, Dokri, Wali Muhammad Baloch.

Shahnawaz, Akram, Syed Sajad Shah, Qurban, Sikander and others said that Baloch is a non-technical person and has been posted here from another department which is illegal. They said he has no knowledge about rice and accused of harvesting rice crop illegally which was sown on institute’s land.

They further alleged that instead of storing the crop in the government godown, Baloch is selling at private rice mills due to which the institute is facing loss of millions of rupees. They said nobody knows where the annual budget of the research institute is spent because no research work has been carried out and demanded that a thorough probe be conducted against his alleged corruption. They also demanded his immediate replacement by a technical and qualified person so that research work should not suffer.
