KARACHI:Provincial Ministers Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, Mukesh Kumar Chawla and Special Assistant to CM Sindh Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar on Sunday congratulated Fazil Jamili, Shazia Hassan and other candidates of the Democrats panel on being elected as President, Vice President and office-bearers in the Karachi Press Club election.
In a statement, Provincial Minister for Industries Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said that Karachi Press Club was the guardian of democratic and journalistic values and it was hoped that the newly elected office-bearers who won the election would uphold the club’s traditions.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla in his congratulatory message said that PPP respected freedom of expression. “We are with the journalist community in every difficult time and Karachi Press Club has a prominent place in Pakistan. It is hoped that it will continue to play an important role in the promotion of democracy in the country,” he said.
Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Sindh Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar said in his statement that Pakistan Peoples Party and Karachi Press Club had played a leading role against dictatorship. He stated: “The Sindh government always welcome positive criticism and government and journalism are inseparable.”
