Pakistan reports 2,417 new COVID-19 cases, 45 deaths in last 24 hours

Islamabad, January 15, 2021 (PPI-OT): 2,417 new cases of coronavirus surfaced across the country after tests of 49,359 people during the last twenty-four hours. According to latest statistics by National Command and Operation Centre, 45 people died due to the contagion during this period taking the total death tally to 10,863.

Recommendations for reforms in criminal justice system ready: Prime Minister

Islamabad, January 15, 2021 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan has regretted that the previous regimes destroyed the country’s criminal justice system and benefited from the lawlessness. He was presiding over a meeting regarding reforms in the criminal justice system and the implementation of civil procedure code in the provinces in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister was informed that recommendations of the separate task forces for reforms are ready for getting practical shape. The Prime Minister said since this sector is very important and vital for governance, the progress on it should be ensured on priority basis. He said the present government will provide all required resources to correct the system on priority basis.

Prime Minister calls for pacing up implementation of measures for improved governance

Islamabad, January 15, 2021 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan has stressed for further pacing up the implementation of measures for improved governance in the country. Presiding over a meeting regarding Governance Action Matrix in Islamabad, he said administrative reforms should be implemented in stipulated time to provide relief to the masses.

The Prime Minister said reformation is impossible without strengthening the system of reward and punishment and legal action against the corrupt elements should be ensured. The meeting was informed about the steps for providing relief to the people, registration and redressal of complaints, establishment of one-window operation and facilitation of the people in government departments.

The Prime Minister was told that the implementation of measures to ensure improvement in governance in Punjab has been started. He was also informed about the timely redressal of complaints in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and strict monitoring of the prices of daily use items in the province.

Government introducing reforms to improve performance of all institutions: Asad

Islamabad, January 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said that agreements with Independent Power Producers were made during the pas governments and the last government of Pakistan Muslim League-N had left circular debt amounting to 450 billion rupees.

Talking to a private news channel, he said we are making reforms to improve efficiency in Pakistan International Airline, Railways, and Power sector. To a question about corona vaccine, he said that vaccine will be available by March and priority would be given to health workers.

International community vindicated Pakistan’s stance by raising voice on HR violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir: Foreign Minister

Islamabad, January 15, 2021 (PPI-OT): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says the international community has vindicated Pakistan’s stance by raising the voice on human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ and K). In a statement, he said the world community is now breaking its silence against Indian brutalities in the occupied territory.

The Foreign Minister said that a debate has started in the British Parliament against Indian atrocities and more than a dozen parliamentarians including ministers have discussed the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said now the British parliamentarians are saying that India has snatched the fundamental rights of Kashmiris. The Minister said millions of Kashmiris expect that voices will also be raised against Indian atrocities from all democratic platforms across the world.

Government can’t ignore massive corruption: Shafqat

Talking to a private news channel, he said holding protest against the government is the constitutional right of opposition and the government will not create hurdles against their protest. Talking to Ambassador of Oman to Pakistan Al- Sheikh Muhammad Al-Umar Ahmed Al-Marhoon and Iraq’s Ambassador to Pakistan Hamid Abbas Lafta in Islamabad, he said the federation comprising Islamic countries’ scholars, businessmen and public representatives will be set up after completing consultation process.
