Concern shown over flour supply to Balochistan, KP

QUETTA: Abdul Wahid Bareach, Chairman, Pakistan Flour Mills Association, Balochistan region, has expressed concern over the ban on supply of flour to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

 

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said that banning the supply of flour to KP and Balochistan was not only affecting demand and supply of flour but would also result in increasing its prices.

 

He added that in the meeting held with Prime Minister Imran, the authorities of Ministry of Food were of the opinion that no ban had been imposed on the supply of flour from one province to other.

 

He said that imposing ban on the supply of flour from Sindh and Punjab to Balochistan and KP showed discrimination, adding that the said act was tantamount to deliberately paralyzing the flour mill industries of both the provinces. He urged authorities to lift ban on the flour supply.

AVLC arrest six motorcycle lifters

KARACHI: The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) police on Tuesday claimed to have busted six motorcycle lifters from the city.

 

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) AVLC, Arif Aslam Rao, said in a statement that six accused have been arrested during an operation against motorcycle lifters and five motorcycles have been recovered from their possession.

 

The arrested accused identified as Raheel, Lakhmir, Sheeraz, Arsalan, Abu Alam and Aijaz. The accused were involved in lifting motorcycles and selling their parts in different areas of the city. A case has been registered against the arrested accused.

Complaint cell set up to address Naseerabad public issues

DERA MURAD JAMALI: Abdul Hae Aamir Baloch, Senior Superintendent of Police, Naseerabad, has said that it was the first and foremost duty and responsibility of police to protect the lives and properties of people.

 

He said that a complaint cell had been set up for addressing the issues of people. Talking to media here on Tuesday after taking further necessary action on the application of one plaintiff namely Haji Hadi Bakhsh Rind, Baloch said in order to provide justice to the people, the complaint cell had been set up.

 

He said that it was the first and foremost responsibility of police to protect the lives and properties of people. On the occasion, DSP Headquarters Naseerabad, Malik Abdul Ghaffar Silachi, Incharge, Complaint Cell, Sultan Ahmed Bhatti, Personal Assistant to SSP, Naseerabad, Ghulam Ali Abro and others were also present.

Man gunned down in Kotri

HYDERABAD: A 45-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Khuda Ki Basti area of Kotri on Tuesday.

 

According to rescue sources, two unidentified motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire at a hotel near Khuda Ki Basti police post in Kotri town of Sindh as a result of which 45-year-old man Allah Bakhsh Khoso died on the spot. The accused managed to escape under the cover of fire. The incident was said to be the result of a personal enmity.

 

The body was shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the heirs. The incident has created a mourning atmosphere in the victim’s house.

World Oceans Day being observed

ISLAMABAD: The World Oceans Day is being observed today (Tuesday). The purpose of the day is to highlight the impact of human actions on the ocean and develop a worldwide movement for the sustainable management of the world’s oceans. Theme of the day this year is The Ocean: Life and Livelihoods. In his message on the occasion, Naval Chief Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi said Pakistan Navy is playing a lead role in promoting safe and sustainable use of ocean resources.

 

He said some of our initiatives include beach cleaning, intensified mangroves plantation, banning use of destructive fishing nets, tackling oil pollution at sea and coordination with industries to reduce waste dumping into the sea. The Naval Chief said a number of events and activities have been arranged to raise awareness about oceans and their resources.
