Raza lauds Canadian govt for its support to Pakistan against Covid-19

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada, Raza Bashir Tarar has lauded the Canadian government for its generous support to Pakistan to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 pandemic and combat polio in Pakistan. Speaking at a farewell meeting arranged by Global Affairs Canada in his honour, the Pakistani envoy said we appreciate the help and value the cooperation that Canada has extended to Pakistan. He also appreciated inclusiveness and tolerance in the Canadian society and hoped that Canada would likely to continue to remain a global destination for the immigrants.

Dar asks opposition to prepare for next general elections

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs Usman Dar has asked the opposition leaders to prepare for the next general elections with clear manifesto. Talking to a private news channel, he said the popularity graph of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is already down among the masses due to their poor performance. Replying to a question about China Pakistan Economic Corridor, he said it is a national project and leaders of all political parties should play their role for improving the standard of life of the people of Balochistan.

COAS lauds Qatar’s role in facilitating, hosting Afghan Peace Process

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has appreciated the highly constructive role played by Qatar in facilitating and hosting ‘Afghan Peace Process’ and hoped for continuous cooperation for ensuring peace and stability in the region. He sated this during a meeting with State of Qatar Special Envoy of the Foreign Minister for Counter-Terrorism and Mediation of Conflict Resolution, Dr Mutlaq Bin Majed Al-Qahtani in Rawalpindi.

They discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including recent updates on Afghan situation, facilitation of reconciliation process in Afghanistan and cooperation in various fields. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s consistent efforts for peace and stability in the region and pledged to keep working for strengthening relations between the two countries.

Pakistan, US stress close coordination for meaningful progress in Afghan peace process

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and United States have stressed the need for continuing close coordination and cooperation to ensure meaningful progress in the Afghan peace process. This was stressed during a telephonic conversation between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and US Secretary of State Antony J Blinken.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi stressed that there was a fundamental convergence between Pakistan and the United States on the need for a peaceful settlement in Afghanistan. He underscored that securing peace in Afghanistan is the shared responsibility of all stakeholders inside Afghanistan as well as key regional and international players. The Foreign Minister said it is imperative for all relevant stakeholders to press all Afghan parties to engage constructively towards achieving an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political settlement.

Corona claims 35 more lives during last 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Thirty-five more deaths due to Coronavirus and 1,828 new positive cases of the infection have been reported in the country during the last 24 hours. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 48,134 tests were conducted, while positivity ratio remained three point seven nine percent. The death toll due to pandemic in the country has reached 22,555.

PM internationalized Kashmir issue by raising it at all fora including OIC, UN: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz are politically immature and totally ignorant of the history of Kashmir. Commenting on the speeches of Bilawal Bhutto and Maryam Nawaz during the AJK election campaign, he said both of them are trying to replace their parents in politics, who had looted and plundered of billions of rupees from the national exchequer while in power.

He said the two parties have neither any political ideology nor any objective, as evident from the direction less speeches of their leadership. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan internationalized the Kashmir issue, by raising it at all fora, including OIC and UN Security Council.

Sharmila visits SSC exam centres in Karachi

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sharmila Farooqi on Saturday visited various SSC examination centers of Karachi along with the staff of the Board of Secondary Education on the occasion of the second paper of the ninth grade.

Speaking on the occasion, she appreciated the steps taken by the Sindh government to improve the quality of education of students. Sharmila said that the educational activities of children had been affected due to the corona pandemic, but owing to timely action of Sindh government, the quality of education in Sindh had been improved significantly.

The PPP leader further said that the mission of Shaheed Bibi was also to improve the quality of education. “It is the first priority of the PPP that every child of the country should be educated. The Sindh government has adopted a policy of nine compromises on education standard in educational institutions of the country. Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has the same vision that there should be uniform quality of education in the country, she concluded.
