IUB sing MoU with Malaysian University to promote research and academic activities

BAHAWALPUR: The MoU is signed between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) and University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) on academic and research collaboration.

Dr Muhammad Faheem Mushtaq Head, Department of Artificial Intelligence (Focal Person-MoU) Introduce the all respected staff members from Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The Vice Chancellor IUB and Vice Chancellor UTHM are agreed to not be limited to the collaboration between the Computing programs but also show interest in Civil Aviation’s, Mechanical and other Engineering Programs. Both Vice Chancellors agreed to jointly register the company for new inventions and products.

They appreciate the efforts of Dr Muhammad Faheem Mushtaq and Dr Abid Shahzad, Director International Linkages to play a positive role toward the MoU. Moreover, the research grant of Dr Muhammad Faheem Mushtaq with UTHM for the worth of 196,600 Ringgit (Approx. 8 million PKR) is approved from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MoSTI), Malaysia. IUB and UTHM also jointly organize the upcoming International Soft Computing and Data Mining (SCDM) Conference, 2022.

03-Days Urs of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya begin in Multan

MULTAN: The three-day 782th Urs ceremonies of great saint of Sub-Continent Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani started here on Monday.

Foreign Minister and “Sajadanasheen” (Caretaker) of the mausoleum Makhdoom Shah Mahmood inaugurated the ceremonies of the Urs by performing traditional “Ghusal” (ablution) of the shrine.

He stressed the need to follow golden principles and teachings of the saint Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani. A good number of devotees have expressed wish to join the ceremony however, the ceremonies have been kept limited due to pandemic coronavirus, said Qureshi.

Although, devotees were not physically present in the Urs but they were attached spiritually to the shrine, he observed. Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood prayed for progress and prosperity of the country. He stated that some elements were conspiring to damage peaceful environment in the country by fanning sectarianism.

He urged unity into masses ranks to foil the nefarious designs of the enemies. On this occasion, Provincial Minister for Auqaf and religious affairs Syed Saeed ul Hassan, Provincial Minister for Energy Dr Akhtar Malik, Federal Parliamentary Secretary on Finance Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi, MPA Nadeem Qureshi and many other local politicians and notables were also present.

German Navy ship visits Karachi

KARACHI: German Navy ship FGS BAYERN (FFG-217) visited Karachi from 08-12 September 2021. The visit was aimed at commemorating 70 years of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Germany.

The four day long visit of FGS BAYERN (FFG-217) comprised of harbor and sea phase. Harbor phase included various harbor events, social calls, visits to prominent places, table top discussions on professional topics, cross ship visits and onboard receptions. A delegation of the visiting German Ship visited mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam to pay tribute to the founder of Pakistan and laid floral wreath.

On completion of Harbor phase bilateral exercise at sea was also conducted between ships of both navies to enhance interoperability between the two navies.

Pakistan and German Navies are partners in peace and striving to achieve safe and secure maritime environment. The recent visit of FGS BAYERN proved to be eventful and professionally rewarding for both the navies in addition to furthering of bilateral relations of the two navies. PNS ZULFIQUAR also visited port of Hamburg Germany earlier in August 2021 to celebrate seven decades of bilateral relations between the two countries.

DISTRICT: Man dies of snake bite

HARNAI: A man died after being bitten by a snake in Killi Andra area of District Harnai in Balochistan province on Monday.

According to detail, a snake bit the man identified as Mula Raza, son of Mula Nazar Tangani Marri, in Killi Andra area of District Harnai in Balochistan province. As a result, his health deteriorated following which he died.

His body was shifted to a nearby hospital and later handed over to the heirs after fulfilling necessary medico-legal formalities. A mourning atmosphere prevailed in the victim’s locality.

Role of Qamar Rajpar for strengthening democracy lauded

HYDERABAD: Political activists, peasant rights campaigners and writers lauded the role of Qamaruz Zaman Rajpar, the PML-N Sindh vice president and former student leader, who faced jails and torture but never gave up and remained loyal for the democracy.

Rajpar daringly struggled for a long time to protect the rights of Sindh and always remained with the oppressed people with commitment. They were speaking at the event “Sitting with Qamarul Zaman Rajpar to listen to his own story of the political journey” on the occasion of his 66th birthday celebration. The programme attracted a large number of former student leaders, peasant rights activists, trade unionists and PML-N activists. The event was organized by PML-N Hyderabad district.

Shah Muhammad Shah PML-N Sindh president and a close friend of Qamar Rajpar in his concluding remarks said “in 1970 we organized a conference forcing to give status to the Sindhi language as national language”. He recalled when he met with Qamar Rajpar and since then they are friends and it seems we are a single-family.

He said, “Politics is not a business but worship and we are doing this in this spirit”. “We lived together for five decades in the struggle, in jails and political mainstream and never left the people of Sindh alone,” he said.

Qamaruz Zaman Rajpar expressed thanks to the friends who not only presented gifts of shawls and garlands but also recognized his political role in the struggle, which started in 1970 and continued to date. He claimed to have learned from nationalist leaders like Sain G. M Syed, Pakhtunkhwa leader late Khan Abdul Wali Khan, Ghaus Bux Bizanjo and many other leaders during our long association with them in the political struggle to strengthen democratic institutions.

He said we want to implement the 1940 resolution, which is the only way out to strengthen democracy. He said the PML which played a role in having a separate nation Pakistan in 1947 now came out in the streets to protect federalism. He said the PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif’s only hope is to strengthen the democracy and he must be supported by the oppressed people, residing in the entire country.

Muhammad Ismail Wasan, a former student leader and close friend of Rajpar for five decades, said they are eyewitnesses to political changes in the country as well as the global scenario. He said in fact despite changing political platforms and parties, we are known for the creation of nationalist leader Sain GM Syed.

Because we had got the first political lesson from him and spent many years in jails, following his ideology, which was not acceptable to the establishment of Pakistan. He said though now we are associated with PML-N and mainstream politics, we are still loyalists to protect the natural resources of Sindh. He invited political parties to join hands for the cause, at least one-point agenda to use income generated from Sindh natural resources for the development of people living here in Sindh.

Altaf Mahesar PML-N Hyderabad district and host of the event in his welcome speech said the global situation has been changed and the politicians put climate change on priority in their discourses. He said the USA, Russia, Germany and other developed nations leaders prefer to talk about environmental change. Therefore, he advised the Pakistan leadership to think about it, linking it to human health, agriculture and economy.

Mir Amanullah Talpur, a grower and political activist recalled the blissful days of the past, and said gone were the days when they struggled for the cause to protect the rights and resources of Sindh and dreamed to see the people put involved in mainstream development.

Akbar Soomro, a writer, said Qamar Rajpar was among a large number of students who opposed the 1973 constitution on the basis of missing the point of provincial autonomy and spent several years in jail. Sindhaini Tehreek leader Nazeer Qureshi, peasant leader Mithoo Maheri, senior journalist Hafeez Abid also spoke on the occasion. A young singer Waqar Mallah and Faqeer Qadir Bux also performed songs on the occasion.

Four stolen vehicles recovered

Islamabad, September 13, 2021 (PPI-OT): Islamabad Koral Police have arrested a car-lifter and recovered four vehicles from them worth millions of rupees, a police spokesman said on Friday. According to the details, SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer had assigned special task to Zonal SPs to curb car theft incidents and ensure arrest of car-lifters and their receivers.

 

Following these directions SP (Rural-Zone) Muhammad Usman Tipu constituted a special team headed by DSP Abid Ikram including SHO Koral police station Khurram Shahzad, ASI Afzal, HC Khadam Hussain and Shakeel and others. This team succeeded to arrest a car lifter identified as Boota Masih s/o Ashiq, resident of District Nankana while four vehicles worth millions of rupees were also recovered from him. The vehicles recovered from the gangster have been stolen from various areas of koral police station.

 

SP (Rural-Zone) Muhammad Usman Tipu has handed over keys of the recovered vehicles to their owners. DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar and SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer have appreciated this overall performance and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for team members.
