Another group of 30 Sri Lankan students has arrived in Pakistan to pursue MBBS degrees under the Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Sri Lankan Students. They landed at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, to begin their studies in Pakistani medical universities.
According to a statement by Higher Education Commission (HEC), the scholarships are part of a broader educational initiative. The Sri Lankan students will study at institutions such as Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, and Liaquat University of Medical Sciences, Karachi. These universities are accredited by the Sri Lankan Medical Council (SLMC).
The scholarship programme has already facilitated the enrollment of 456 Sri Lankan students in Pakistani universities across multiple disciplines, including medicine, engineering, business studies, natural sciences, and social sciences. The selection process was based on a competitive evaluation considering the eligibility criteria for admission to Pakistani universities.
The arriving students were welcomed at the airport, marking the continuation of educational cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
