A mild earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale shook various regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan early this morning, as confirmed by the National Seismic Monitoring Centre.

The tremors were distinctly felt across several areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Malakand, Swat, Shangla, and Chitral, as well as in Abbottabad, Mardan, Mohmand, Swabi, Lower Dir, Azad Kashmir, Islamabad, and parts of Punjab.

Concurrently, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported a 5.6 magnitude quake in the Hindu Kush Region of Afghanistan, occurring at a depth of 121 kilometers. The epicenter was pinpointed approximately 164 kilometers east of Baghlan.

TV reports provided the information, highlighting the widespread reach of the tremors. Residents in the affected areas experienced the early morning quake, which prompted concerns about potential aftershocks. The earthquake’s impact on infrastructure and communities is currently under assessment.
