Dr Bahar Shah, Chairman, Grand Health Alliance Balochistan on Saturday said that in Sindh, Pakistan Peoples Party raised the slogan of ‘Roti’, ‘Kapra’ and ‘Makan’ while in Balochistan the government of PPP had pursued the policy of ‘Privatisation’, ‘Contract’ and depriving healthcare institutions of the province of all kinds of facilities and healthcare equipments, adding that young doctors and paramedical staff of the province would appear before the Balochistan High Court to present point of view with regards to the demands of Grand Health Alliance Balochistan.
These views were expressed by him while while addressing a press conference at PGMI Civil Hospital Quetta with other office bearers and workers of GHAB. He said that hospitals of the province were deficient of staff, healthcare facilities and equipments, but instead of addressing the issues of the hospitals, the incumbent provincial government was bent upon privatisation of government run hospitals of the province.
He said that about 800 doctors and 3000 nurses were unemployed, but rather than creating new posts for adjustment of unemployed doctors and nurses of the province, the provincial government was making appointments against different cadre posts, including doctors and nurses, on contract basis.
He said that on one hand Chief Minister Balochistan was boasting to send students of the province abroad for seeking education in Oxford and other universities, but on the other hand the faculty members and staff of University of Balochistan, BUITEMS and Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University were protesting for their monthly salaries.
He said privatisation of hospitals and making contract based appointments in Health Department Balochistan were not acceptable to Grand Health Alliance Balochistan. He said that doctors, paramedics and nurses were going to appear before Balochistan High Court on Monday the 30th December, 2024 to present their point of view with regard to the demands of Grand Health Alliance Balochistan. He said if demands of Grand Health Alliance Balochistan were not entertained, protest sit-in would be staged outside the building of Balochistan Provincial Assembly.
On the occasion, spokesman GHAB, Dr. Saboor, Jamal Shah Kakar, Fazal-ur-Rehman Kakar, Hazrat and other leaders of Grand Health Alliance Balochistan were also present.
