The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a final tranche of $1.1 billion for Pakistan under the Stand-By Arrangement, marking a significant development in Pakistan’s financial engagement with the global lender. The approval by the IMF’s Executive Board allows for the immediate disbursement of the funds, bringing the total disbursements under this arrangement to approximately three billion dollars. According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan had successfully reached a Staff Level Agreement on the second and final review of the remaining $1.1 billion with the IMF on the 20th of the previous month. The IMF in its statement recognized Pakistan’s “determined policy efforts” under the 2023 Stand-By Arrangement, noting progress in restoring economic stability, easing external pressures, and a decline in inflation.
