Police constable kidnapped in Shikarpur

A police constable was abducted in broad daylight by dacoits in the Shikarpur District on Monday.

The cop, identified as Muhammad Ismail Shar, a former soldier now serving with the local police, was taken from a police checkpoint in the Naparkot Police Station area. Shar, along with his official weapon, was kidnapped by a group of armed dacoits who fled to the nearby katcha area, according to local police.

Videos circulated on social media show the abducted constable being tortured while pleading for his release. The kidnappers, with their faces uncovered, have issued threats to harm Shar if their demands are not met.

Shikarpur, in Pakistan’s Sindh province, has seen a spike in violent crime, including kidnappings, murders, and vehicle thefts, with citizens expressing deep concerns for their safety. Local authorities have yet to comment on efforts for Shar’s recovery, while the incident adds to fears of growing lawlessness in the area.
