(CITY) TESSORI INAUGURATES FIRST INTERNATIONAL PAKISTANI DATE PALM FESTIVAL

Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori emphasized the vast potential of Pakistani dates in the global market, noting that full access to international markets could generate significant foreign exchange for the country. He congratulated the organizers on successfully hosting the festival, expressing hope that it would open new avenues of cooperation and collaboration.

Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori made these remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the first-ever International Pakistani Date Palm Festival. Earlier, UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al Zabi welcomed Sindh Governor for his participation in the event. He extended his gratitude to Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, under whose guidance the festival was organized in Karachi. Kamran Khan Tessori further announced his intention to send a formal letter of thanks to the President of the United Arab Emirates through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighting the festival as a reflection of the strong ties between Pakistan and the UAE

In addition, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori invited date farmers to Governor House and announced the establishment of a facilitation counter to assist them. This initiative aims to strengthen coordination between federal institutions and the provincial government, which will further boost the export of Pakistani dates.

He pointed out that Pakistan is one of the top five date-producing countries in the world, yet currently, the country earns only $50 per date tree, whereas other nations generate $1,500 per tree. Kamran Khan Tessori attributed this disparity to a lack of technology and attention, stressing the need for commercial plantation. He also revealed plans to visit Khairpur and other areas soon to address farmers’ concerns and ensure swift solutions.
