Two men were shot dead over a tribal dispute near village Kalhora Kot Mir Muhammad on Monday in district Khairpur, police said.
Armed men of the Narejo tribe opened fire, killing Yameen Solangi and Sanaullah Solangi, who were herding goats at the field near village Kalhora Kot Mir Muhammad in district Khairpur.
Police rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies to Pir Jo Goth Hospital. After completing necessary formalities, the bodies were handed over to the families. A mourning atmosphere prevailed at the victims’ village. More bloodshed is feared in the region.
In the last two weeks, clashes between the Solangi and Narejo tribes have left eight people dead and two others injured. Local authorities and police are frequently challenged by this new tribal conflict, which is deeply rooted in the social fabric of the region.
The police’s involvement in such cases often focuses on immediate response and investigation, while longer-term solutions require negotiation and intervention by community leaders and government officials.
